About the Blog

I began writing to tell people Luke's birth story. I have continued to write because it has been the means of both capturing and sharing many of the emotions and experiences that accompany the loss of a child. When others may see me--cheerful and smiling in my day-to-day life--this has the place for others to know how I'm really doing. It has been cathartic and healing for me to be able to put my thoughts and emotions into the written word.

Most of all, writing has helped me see how Christ is the source of my peace, healing, and hope. It is through Jesus Christ that my burden has been made light.

About Me

I am a twenty-something-year-old, originally from Utah. I am married to a wonderful, caring, and supportive husband, Trevor, who is originally from Washington. We packed up everything we owned and moved to Virginia in May 2012 and then to Southern California in April 2014. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (aka Mormon). We are the loving parents of our stillborn son, Luke (2011), and his two younger siblings Jeremy (2012) and Clara (2014).

I have a variety of interests and claim to be a bit of everything: a wife, a mother, an aunt, a friend, a neighbor, a dancer, a hairstylist, a teacher, a chef, an interior decorator, a seamstress, a do-it-yourselfer, a gardener, a painter, a blogger, a health nut, a traveler, an outdoor enthusiast, and (of course) a Mormon. I love to live life with joy and hope others can see that I do, because of my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

I am happy you have found my blog and hope you too may recognize that you have a Father in Heaven who loves you and is aware of the details of your life and the feelings in your heart.

If you have found my blog because you have lost a child or a loved one too, my heart and prayers go out to you. Feel free to contact me at fitzgerald.shell@gmail.com. Even if you aren't a bereaved parent and want to contact me, please do.
